A3M Public Service Announcement Contest

SUBMISSION DEADLINE UPDATE!

The deadline for submissions has been extended to May 8th, 2013. All other contest rules apply, for more information/questions please contact Kene Kubo. Thank you and good luck with submissions!

$1000 Grand Prize!

A3M would like to let the public know about the need for more donors in the 18-44 age range. The Be The Match Registry, the national bone marrow registry in the US, operated by the National Marrow Donor Program, has focused on recruiting people aged 18-44 because they are much more likely to be called as donors. Transplant doctors select registry members 18-44, more than 90% of the time. As it has been for many years now, we are still in need of donors of ethnic minorities. Patients have a higher likelihood of finding their marrow donor within their own ethnic groups, thus people of small ethnic minorities in the US have a much harder time finding donors. If you are unfamiliar with A3M or Be The Match please click the links provided on the their names for more information. Please help us spread our message to the public by creating a PSA (Public Service Announcement). Besides feeling good about helping a worthy cause we're also giving prizes to the top 2 submissions:

Grand prize: $1000!
Second prize: $200!

Submission Requirements
All contest submissions must meet the following requirements in order to be judged for any prizes:

  1. The PSA must stress the need for donors who are between the ages of 18-44 to join the Be The Match Registry.
  2. The PSA must inform the viewer that A3M is a part of Be The Match and is looking to add diversity to the registry. More registry members who are ethnic minorities will improve the chances of minority patients in finding a marrow donor.
  3. Submissions must include that donors be 18-44 in age and in general good health to register
  4. Submissions must include 10, 15, and 30 second versions (for flexible media usage)

When I donated my marrow, I almost felt like I was handpicked for this opportunity. For me, it was a very spiritual experience. The earlier you register, the better it is.
