Be The One Run on November 13th

BTOR

Join us at our first Be The One RunTM on Sunday, November 13th, at the Shoreline Park, in Long Beach.

A3M, City of Hope, and the Be The Match Registry Southern California office, are co-hosting this annual 5K run/walk. Last year was our inaugural run/walk and the response was great, and we are hoping to do even better this year.

Be The One RunTM is a walk and run event for people of all ages and fitness levels. It includes a 5K, a 1K Fun Run and a 25-yard Tot Trot. Be The One Run unites communities determined to cure patients with diseases like leukemia and lymphoma. Every step you take helps patients receive the marrow transplant they need.

You have the power to stop someone from dying. Be part of the Be The Match® movement to help all patients receive the marrow transplant they need, when they need it. Join the Be The One Run! Walk or run, donate or volunteer to give patients a second chance at life.

Patty

Patty registered to be a marrow donor when she saw A3M’s booth at her son’s basketball game one day. A few years later when Patty was traveling, her husband informed her via email that she was a match for a patient. She felt very special that she could be the one to help another person. She was concerned about the patient so she immediately let the donor center know that she was willing to go ahead. Patty’s young children also encouraged their mother saying, “Do it mom, do it”.

On her return Patty went through some blood tests and donated her marrow a few weeks later.
