"Life is suffering. Emotional, physical, mental, and spiritual pain, are ingrained so deeply within me ever since Aplastic Anemia has gripped my life... Due to the many transfusions, I now have high iron levels that range around 12,000 when the normal range is 40-120... My whole family hurts. But we do this together and so the pain is minimized because it is shared. We have learned so much and our love is deep and still. Love, extreme love, is what motivates us to go on, growing stronger every second, and with every breath. I always tell my family that I am ‘Sadly Happy.’ That my kind of ‘happiness’ is unique in that I cry as I smile, because I feel so much love and yet at the same time I am shaken with fear that one day my loved ones will be stolen and unjustly taken away...I need a miracle. I want to live. A life is waiting for me to be taken firmly and lived out to its fullest. I want a child, a family, and a good man to share this all with. I want normal..." You can help give Hannah and other patients like her a chance to live a normal life by registering to be a marrow donor.

Anne

Anne registered in May of 2001. Five years later she received a call from the donor center informing her that she was a match. She said, “ It was really nice to know that I could possibly be able to help someone who is trying to survive”. Anne said as a potential donor, she answered the health history questionnaire and gave some blood to test before the actual donation. She said, “I never had any hesitation. If I had, I would not have registered in the first place. I think it is only fair to the patient, once you make that commitment to go ahead with the process if you are called”.

When people ask her about her donation she says, “It doesn’t matter. It was never about me, it was about that person who needed my help”.

Anne’s patient is doing well. She hopes to meet him some day.
