Eduard
This is Eduard, he is 42 years old, a father to two beautiful children, and a loving husband. He works as an operations director at a startup that’s located in the Netherlands that helps socially conscious investors crowdfund sustainable entrepreneurship in emerging countries. Wanting to live a healthy life and to be well informed with how his health is, Eduard went to the doctors to get himself checked out. He had mentioned to his doctor about a rash that was developing. That rash radically changed his life: he was found to have chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), a malignant blood disease that causes an increase in white blood cells. After exhausting 2 different inhibitors, and other medications, it has become clear that Eduard is in need of a stem cell donation if he is to survive. Finding a matching donor is a challenge, because he is of Chinese-Indonesian descent.
“Simply because very few people of non-Western origin are registered as stem cell donors worldwide. As I said, I am a positive person and take a lot of strength out of my faith. But I find it very hard not to get emotional when my six-year-old daughter keeps asking me when I'm coming home because she misses me so much. How my eight-year-old son James picks things up from the doctors who upset him…I hope that after reading this piece, people will sign up as a donor" – Eduard Text MATCHEDUARD to 61474 to register today. |
