INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

SUMMARY
Asians for Miracle Marrow Matches’ (A3M) mission is to improve the health and welfare of patients with leukemia and other blood cancers by educating and recruiting potential donors and providing patient support services. For many of our patients with blood cancers, a blood stem cell or bone marrow transplant is their last hope and only treatment option. Over the past 25 years, A3M has recruited over 400,000 donors and over 500 have moved forward to donate their marrow and blood stem cells to save a life. A3M’s primary focus is to recruit potential donors from minority communities, as these communities have low donor recruitment rates. According to the National Marrow Donor Program, minorities make up a staggering 35% (Asians 6% and Latinos 9%) of the donor registry. A3M’s goal is to increase and diversify the national marrow donor registry.
A3M is based in Little Tokyo and our donor recruitment drives cover Southern California however a majority is organized in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. We are offering an internship for students to be engaged in community outreach to increase minority registration for potential bone marrow donations. For many patients with blood cancers such as leukemia, a blood stem cell or marrow transplant is their last hope and only treatment option. We are looking forward to working with dedicated interns who share our mission of improving the health and well being of patients with blood related illnesses.
